NNCWM Spotlight, Mr. Antoine Lunsford
Antoine Lunsford is an author and elementary school educator from the D.C. Metro Area. He has always enjoyed writing stories as a child.
Throughout his high school and college years, he realized that writing was truly an art that he was very passionate about. But, he didn't believe that a career as an author was a reality for him.
Between the years of 2015 and 2017, his unbridled passion and desire to provide children with quality literature that had great story lines, cool characters and valuable lessons to be learned, increased daily. As a result, he published his first book, Little Andy: The Greatest Recess Monitor Ever, in the Little Andy's World Series in the fall of 2017.
We were honored that as the result of the Thursday, June 4, '20 NNCMW Annual Elections, Mr. Antoine Lunsford was elected as a Church on the Hill-NNCMW Board Member.
The Late Mr. Frank Reaves, Board Member Emeritus
The Church on the Hill assisted the late Mr. Frank Reaves with the restructuring of RM Thornton, Inc. Capitol Heights, MD. The company was founded in 1932 by Russell Thornton, a union steamfitter.
The firm did its first air-conditioning job in 1947, At the Hecht Co., in Silver Spring, MD. When the Founder died in 1957, Frank Reaves took over as president. He later bought the company, which by 2001 had over 100 employees and annual sales of about $25 million.
At the Washington Cathedral, Thornton became one of the few contractors in the world ever to install air conditioning in a giant Gothic Cathedral. Much of the work was done high above the ground, while welding had to be performed in very tight areas.
IBM became a substantial customer for R.M. Thornton with process piping work projects that extended more than ten years.
Currently, the company has changed its name to RM Thornton Mechanical.
